Like you, I want to live in a community that I feel proud of.

Like you, I’m a resident and a tax payer with everyday concerns, both at the neighborhood level and at the city level.

Like you, I want my trash and my yard waste picked up on schedule; I want the snow removed immediately; I want walkable sidewalks and more streetlights. From good schools, to good paying jobs, and good places to live for everyone; I want our city’s future to be prosperous and promising so that all of our lives can improve—no matter where we’re at.

These are the things I keep front of mind while serving as Alderman. I work to be a bridge between our neighborhoods in Ward 4 and City Hall; focusing on making strategic decisions that create both immediate positive effects and a longterm impacts for the future.

My Qualifications

OVER 20 YEARS OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

I have over 20 years working in the private sector as a creative problem solver, including for two Fortune 500 corporations. I know what it’s like to complete work on time and on budget. I’m known as a strong leader and an energetic collaborator.

SIMPLIFYING THE COMPLEX

My day job is to simplify complex corporate technology systems and processes to make them more user-friendly. I’ll do the same thing for you in City Hall—I’ll help make local government more user-friendly!

ENGAGED IN THE COMMUNITY

I’ve been engaged with our community both citywide and in Ward 4. I’ve volunteered with multiple organizations, advocated in Concord for issues including affordable housing and election policy, and serves as a Ballot Inspector in Ward 4.

FOCUSED ON PROGRESS

I am a voice of reason and work to build consensus in the interest of making progress. I make decisions based on what makes sense for Ward 4 and our city.

BIG-PICTURE THINKING

I approach problems creatively with the bigger picture in mind. I seek out solutions that go beyond just the near-term.

More About Christine: A problem solver at heart

Born and raised in Southern Maine

I was born and raised in Southern Maine. I graduated high school in 1996 and went on to college at the University of Connecticut, where I earned a degree in Graphic Design. After college, I moved to Philadelphia to be with my now-husband, Nate Harvey, as he pursued his lifelong dream to study veterinary medicine after growing up on his family’s farm in Epping.

Trained to channel my creativity

Nate and I stayed in Philadelphia for 17 years, putting down personal and professional roots. During that time I honed my skills as a designer, always focused on meeting the goals of each project through a creative lens. As I moved along my career path, the projects got bigger and more complex. Time and again I would draw on my creative thought process to come up with new and novel solutions that met the needs of my clients and their customers. Over time, my approach as a designer became more about solving problems rather than just making things look nice; earning awards and recognition along the way.

A track record of leadership

In addition to being focused on my career, I also loved giving back—both as a professional designer and as a community member. I took part in many initiatives with different organizations in the city and also began engaging with politics by volunteering for multiple campaigns. Often my two areas of interest would overlap and I would use design as a form of political activism, calling attention to issues like the Ebola outbreak in Africa and environmental discrimination in Philadelphia. At this time, I also earned a Master’s degree in graphic design and began teaching college, all the while running a successful freelance design studio on the side. Stepping up and getting involved came naturally for me.

A career as a problem solver

As time went on, our personal lives brought us back home to New England. This gave me the opportunity to shift my focus from graphic design to user experience design, where the scope and complexity of my work expanded significantly. I also shifted from advertising to enterprise technology, where I now focus on designing systems and processes that enable employees to do their day-to-day work with as few interruptions or friction as possible. Domains including corporate finance, legal, and HR have become areas of expertise and I am continually called upon when problems are poorly defined or misunderstood, and teams are getting stalled. My ability to create clarity and structure, as well as build consensus are key skillsets I draw upon frequently. Ultimately, while my work has evolved over time, I’m still a creative problem solver at heart.
